Let’s Do The Time Warp Again

As citizens, all should remember the date; August 25th. This day should be recognized as a annual City Holiday, observed as the day Economic Development in Duncanville came to a screeching, blood curdling, halt.

On August 25th, 2011; Former Duncanville City Council-members, Don Freeman (District 1), Leslie Thomas (District 3) and (District 5) Councilwoman Johnette Jameson voted to vacate the entire Duncanville Economic Development Corporation for the first time. This course of action may possibly be the most brilliant political move that the citizens of Duncanville had ever been witness to. Just look at the benefits bestowed upon our great community.

Forget the $73 or-so million in “new construction” during the “Financial Crisis” of 07-08. Those numbers don’t compare to FY 2011,2012 & 2013 = drum roll please…..$17,290 dollars.

If citizens take a close look at the 2012 DCEDC Annual report, one shouldn’t have to question why Cliff Boyd (District 1), Stan Smith (District 3), Patrick Harvey (At-Large) and Mark Cooks (District 4)  voted to vacate the DCEDC that was made up of then Mayor Deborah Hodge, and two former Council-members that voted to vacate the DCEDC in 2011.

If you owned a business, would you keep employees that produced ZERO results? Probably not.

Look at the staggering growth that the DCEDC produced over the last two years? Look at the incentive projects, the total dollars reinvested back into the community, the new construction and jobs created. $0.00

How do you get any better than zero?

And you wonder why your taxes are so high.
